Herbal stories weave threads throughout every culture. This May, we welcome storyteller Amanda Edmiston to Cample to lead a herbal folklore workshop alongside our current exhibition – The Unearthed by Anderson Borba. Join us for an afternoon of stories, plants, recipes and remedies.
In the workshop, Amanda will use storytelling to introduce traditional, nature-based knowledge, taking familiar plants that grow all around us and looking at their roles in folklore and as traditional remedies over many generations.
There will be plenty of chance to explore the plants in our greenspace and share inherited stories, memories and insights. We will also create small folded books from ethically sourced handmade plant papers and use them to create our own ‘hidden herbals’.
What to expect: The session will last for 3 hours and will include a short break. There will also be a short walk outside in our greenspace. Please bring weather-appropriate footwear and clothing.
Refreshments
Tea, coffee and cold drinks will be available. Please feel free to bring a packed lunch. Let us know if you have any dietary requirements when booking.
