Dumfries-based writer Carolyn Hashimoto returns to Cample this summer to lead a creative writing workshop developed alongside our current exhibitions, Murmuration by Majd Abdel Hamid and Katie Schwab’s The warp and woof of my self.

In the workshop, Carolyn will encourage participants to explore the exhibitions through creative writing. Moving through the exhibitions together, Carolyn will offer writing prompts and exercises inspired by the textures, details and notions embedded within both artist’s works.

The session is designed as an open and supportive space to experiment with writing, generate ideas and respond creatively to the exhibitions – whether you write regularly or are simply curious to try.

What to expect: Carolyn will give a brief introduction to the exhibitions and share ways of using artworks as a guide or starting point for creative writing. You will then spend time in the exhibition with a series of guided prompts before coming together to write, share work and reflect on the experience of writing in response to art.
