Join us for a fun reading of author and illustrator Jessie Hartland’s wonderful picture book How the Sphinx Got to the Museum: enjoy the story of how one particular Egyptian sculpture ended up in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. We learn how Hatshepsut, a female pharaoh in ancient Egypt, ordered the creation of a sphinx in her own honour. The sculptor secures the granite, the priests admire it, the stepson destroys it, and then the real fun begins after an archaeologist discovers it 3000 years later in a pit.
