Sacred Offerings and Indian Regional Food Workshop
Led by Hetal Chudasama

Inspired by Sayan Chanda’s current exhibition, artist Hetal Chudasama will led a workshop that delves into the role of food in ritual practices in Indian culture. In this session, you will  participate in preparing three recipes associated with Prasad.

In Hinduism, ‘Prasad’ refers to food or other offerings presented to a deity during rituals or worship. Once blessed, it is distributed among devotees, symbolizing spiritual nourishment and communal harmony. Even in the most sacred contexts, Prasad transcends social boundaries, reinforcing the idea that food is not just for sustenance but also for spiritual fulfillment.

Food and spirituality are deeply intertwined in Indian culture. Every region in India has unique traditions of Prasad preparation and distribution, making it a rich and diverse culinary experience. This workshop explores the art, significance, and spiritual essence of preparing Prasad.
